The side lawn of the house has always had a severe slope to it, too much to make it very useable. We took a couple of years collecting up stones from farms around Franklin County until we had enough of them to build up a wall sizeable enough to hold enough fill to flatten it out.

You can see the grade of the slope by looking at the string

We stored stones here for years before we had enough

The first load of fill arrives

Hopefully the wall does its job

The wall's up and the topsoil is leveled

Putting in the shrubs. Eamon's a big help.
